Brusso Quadrant Hinge Template

I (David Marx) am an amateur metal craftsman and have been married to a French Horn player (Carol Marx) for almost 40 years. It was high time I made her something in my basement workshop. This project was jointly done with my fellow craftsman Scott Ingram.

We live in Toronto, Ontario.The attached photos show the box in detail. The information all over the box. Including the bottom, tells the story of Carol and what she wanted to be remembered for. In the far distant future, our descendants will have this box and it will provide a glimpse into their remarkable ancestor Carol. The box has a clear voice and tells a vivid story and this was our intention from the start.

Brusso Straight Knife Hinges

This jewelry box was made from quartersawn white oak, with legs carved from walnut and interior walnut accents. I couldn't find any drawer pulls to fit what I had in mind, so I picked up some leathermaking tools and crafted my own. I installed some ring/earing holders I purchased online. A brass rod and some small drawer pulls I painted black worked well to hang necklaces, watches and bracelets.
